International Cricket Council (ICC)
Governs international cricket and runs the ICC Cricket World Cup, the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, the Champions Trophy and the World Test Championship.
Cricket is the one sport listed on both 24betting products: the exchange, where users bet against each other, and the sportsbook, which sets fixed odds.
| Exchange | Sportsbook | |
|---|---|---|
| Sports shown | Cricket and soccer | Cricket, football, tennis, esports, virtual sports and more |
| Prices | Paired prices with the stake available at each | Fixed odds, with a setting to change the odds format |
| Extras | Labelled Beta in the lobby; thin markets flagged "Low liquidity" | Live section and Turbo Combo multi-bets |
On the exchange you take a price offered by another user, or offer your own. Each price shows the stake available at it. When few users are trading a market, 24betting flags it "Low liquidity", which means large bets may not be matched at the price shown.
| Selection | Back | Lay |
|---|---|---|
| Team A | 2.10 | 2.14 |
| Team B | 1.88 | 1.92 |
The sportsbook sets its own fixed odds. It has a Live section for in-play events, a setting to change the odds format, and Turbo Combo multi-bets that combine several selections.
Cricket betting in India centres on three groups of competitions, each with its own rhythm of fixtures and markets.
India's franchise T20 league, usually played from March to May. It is the most-searched cricket competition for betting in India.
Test matches, One Day Internationals and T20 Internationals between national teams, plus ICC events such as the World Cup and the Champions Trophy.
Indian domestic competitions such as the Ranji Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and leagues in other countries.
The three international formats play very differently, and so do their betting markets. A draw is a live outcome only in Test cricket, and rain affects the shorter formats through the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method.
| Format | Length | Results possible | Betting note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Test cricket | Up to five days, two innings each | Win, loss, draw, tie | Match odds usually have three outcomes: team A, team B, draw |
| One Day International (ODI) | 50 overs per side | Win, loss, tie, no result | Rain-shortened games are decided by DLS targets |
| T20 and T20 International | 20 overs per side | Win, loss (ties go to a Super Over) | Fast swings make in-play prices move quickly |
Governs international cricket and runs the ICC Cricket World Cup, the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, the Champions Trophy and the World Test Championship.
Runs Indian cricket, including the national team, the IPL and domestic competitions such as the Ranji Trophy.
The BCCI's franchise T20 league, founded in 2008. Ten teams play each season, usually from March to May.
These are the markets Indian cricket bettors use most, and what each one actually pays out on.
| Market | What you bet on |
|---|---|
| Match odds (match winner) | Which team wins. Tests add the draw. |
| Toss | Which captain wins the coin toss. |
| Top batsman / top bowler | The highest run-scorer or wicket-taker for a team. |
| Total runs | Whether an innings or match goes over or under a run line. |
| Session or "fancy" runs | Runs scored in a set block of overs. Popular on exchanges used in India. |
| Completed match / tie | Whether the match finishes with a result, or ends level. |
Cricket prices such as 2.10 are decimal odds: the total return per 1 unit staked, including the stake. The 24betting sportsbook has a setting to change the odds format.
| Price | Return on ₹100 | Profit | Implied chance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.50 | ₹150 | ₹50 | 66.7% |
| 2.10 | ₹210 | ₹110 | 47.6% |
| 4.00 | ₹400 | ₹300 | 25.0% |
The implied chance is 1 divided by the price. If a bookmaker's implied chances for every outcome add up to more than 100%, the extra is its margin.
Bet that a selection will win, at a price another user is offering.
Bet that a selection will not win. You act as the bookmaker for that stake.
What a layer stands to lose: stake × (price − 1). Laying ₹100 at 2.14 risks ₹114.
A bet is matched once another user takes the other side. Unmatched bets wait in the market and can be cancelled.
How much money is waiting at each price. 24betting flags thin markets "Low liquidity".
Exchanges usually charge a percentage of net winnings on a market.
In-play markets reprice ball by ball. Most betting sites suspend markets for a moment around each delivery, wicket or review, and a bet placed during a suspension is not accepted. Broadcast pictures run behind the live data, so the price you see can already reflect a ball you have not watched yet.
24betting's sportsbook has a Live section.
How a bet settles when weather or a tie intervenes depends on the operator's rules, not on the match result alone. Typical questions: does a DLS result count, how is a Super Over treated, and are bets void if a match is abandoned?
Yes. Cricket is listed on both the 24betting exchange and the sportsbook.
Backing is betting that a selection wins. Laying is betting that it does not, which makes you liable for the backer's winnings if it does.
Multiply your stake by the price to get your total return. ₹100 at 2.10 returns ₹210, which is ₹110 profit.
Few users are trading that market, so a large bet may not be matched at the price shown.
